The long, sandy beach of Plage des Mouettes is just 650 yards from site. There are shops, restaurants, bars, cafes, mini-golf and discos at Merlin Plage, a short walk from site.
The Sealand aquarium at Noirmoutier-en-l'Ile (26mls), with its marvellous exhibit of sealions in the semi open air pool, makes a good outing. Visit Le Puy du Fou, a one and a half hour drive from the site, for a spectacular re-enactment of the history of the Vendee and watch the incredible fireworks and fountain display at night.
