The local area around Valle Gaia & Tuscany
The popular sandy beaches at Vada and San Vincenzo are both fifteen minutes away. Cecina has back-to-back festivals from July through to September including antiques, arts and music. The Aqua Park, open in high season, is a favourite with the children. A visit to the area wouldn't be complete without a visit to Pisa and the leaning tower, just forty five minutes away.
Cavallino Matto - A large theme park with attractions to suit the entire family. A good selection of rollercoasters and activities for teenagers plus more gentle rides for younger children.
Pistoia Zoo - A few kilometres away from the centre of Pistoia, immersed in the hillside is this 75,000 square metre zoo. One of the most interesting zoological gardens in Italy both because of its position and the number of species gathered. Over 600 animals from around the globe including flamingos, llamas, camels, tigers, elephants, hippos and bears. There is also an area where children can touch the animals such as goats and rabbits.
Parco di Pinocchio - The park of Pinocchio could not have been set anywhere other than in Collodi. The author adopted this village for his surname after spending most of his childhood here. Established over a span of 30 years, the park is far from being a traditional theme park, rather it is a creation of fantasy endowed with unique charm. Stroll along the paths and experience a living story amid unspoilt pearls of nature blended with beautiful art.
