A great location and perfect for walking Snowdon etc. There are great little ruins to visit within walking distance. We went as a big group of friends and spent the evening chatting to each other in the hot tub. The town of Llangollen is really pretty. There's a pub by the river and if you're lucky you can see the steam train go by.

Lovely accommodation in a picturesque setting. Great if you like wildlife as lodges are in a very rural setting with ducks visiting the decking area! Also well located for Llangollen town and white water activities as only 10 minutes drive away.

This is a fabulous location and park with a truly superb setting and location - marvellous for the dog too. So peaceful with wonderful views and walks on tap with attractions not too far away.

The park is superb. It is peaceful and very tranquil, and we were lucky enough to stay in Valley View Cottage which is right on the edge of the forest and being avid walkers, it was wonderful. The accommodation having been recently refurbished is second to none, very comfortable, clean and warm and the staff on site were very helpful indeed.

We enjoyed a lovely weekend away, the setting was fantastic and the lodge was brilliant! - Not to mention the hot tub!! Will definitely be returning and would recommend to all :-)

We had a great break. Lovely walks nearby, and the kids loved the rope swing we found on the walk. Fishing kept the men happy too, (they caught several rainbow trout). All in all, lovely lodges in a good location and nice surroundings.

It was a lovely setting, right on the lake.

The view from the cabin was outstanding, especially after a sharp overnight frost! The cabin was spacious, and with four bedrooms we felt comfortable even though we were at full capacity with a party of eight. Fixtures and fittings, including all bathrooms, were of a very high standard, and the cabin was very clean upon arrival. The hot tub was serviced by staff daily and was a luxurious addition to the holiday. The log burner in the evenings made a the cabin warm and cosy. All in all a perfect location with outstanding accommodation for a February half term break.

This site is perfect for those wanting to get away from the stress of city life. It's so quiet & peaceful and great if you like wildlife. We had squirrels, ducks & robins literally on our doorstep! The indoor pool must be visited & is much bigger than it seems from the ouside. As for the hot tub - I am kicking myself for not getting in until the second to last day as it was fab! Llangollen (about 5 mins in the car) is lovely & has everything you need for your stay. The area also has some great pubs & restaurants. Can't wait to visit again

I would definitely recommend this holiday to anyone who wants a quiet time away in a stunning setting with beautiful accommodation. We were a bit snowed in (due to the Jan 2010 big freeze), however, it didn't stop us from getting our walking boots on and getting out and about in the amazing surrounding countryside. The staff are friendly and helpful, and this is a great holiday for couples, groups of friends and families. We are definitely going back!

Magnificent surroundings and standard of accommodation. Location is spot on for visiting Llangollen by car as only a short drive away, but also far enough away to feel like you are staying in a lodge in the Swiss Alps! Waking up with the beautiful view over the lake and the ducks was really something! Really relaxing break, can't wait to go again. Great for families and couples alike.

If you?re looking for a tranquil relaxing break away from it all then look no further than Penvale lake lodges. Situated down a small valley in Wales with a less than 2 hour drive from just outside Leeds in West Yorkshire. Surrounded by woodlands and hills with a small fishing lake running through the middle of it. A very peaceful place and habituated by wildlife in the form of ducks, ducklings frogs and fish (that take a strong liking to wholemeal bread). On site there is a small enclosed pool that we did not visit as our lodge came with a hot tub, bliss. Plenty of walks if that?s your thing, two local pubs and the nearest lively town just a two mile walk through the hills and on the canal make Penvale an ideal retreat (We went the scenic route). The lodge itself is like a bigger version of a show home, stunning, with a massive log burner that was fired up every night for a chill out theme rather than the fact that it was cold in the lodge. Our group consisted of 6 work colleagues aged from 21-36 and the only note that I would put out there is that there is not an on site restaurant, however we normally shop before we arrive anyway so no worries...Get away...relax...and enjoy....

The Birches Lodge VIP was fantastic. The park was lovely with fishing and swimming and the staff were very friendly and helpful. I will definitely recommend the park to friends, and we are planning our next trip there now!

We went here Feb 2011 for wife's birthday, site sits at the bottom on hill side & is very picturesque & only 2min drive into nearby Llangollen town with all amenities & attractions.. Place to eat, Dee side cafe ~ Bistro very cheap but top quality meals...

We as a large family, love to all be together at Christmas, we booked Penvale Lakes due to the size of accommodation & specification of lodges to suit our daily home from home living. Penvale Lakes ticked all our boxes & with snow, was a Christmas only many can dream about. No hassles, no fuss reception staff, excellent communications & leave you to enjoy your stay. Lovely nearby village Llangollen, with Christmas Eve trip on Railway to Lapland absolutely amazing for the children & just as exciting for us adults. Locals so warm & friendly. Boxing Day sales in Wrexham, Chester & Cheshire Oaks if you like to shop! Would love to book again in summer months to explore more but Christmas was amazing with the only fault being my own that I didn't book longer.

A great location for walking around Snowdon and visiting local attractions and the town of Llangollen is very picturesque and just down the road. The majestic steam train that runs through the valley makes you feel like you are in the Railway Children film. There are some cool rope swings down by the abbey which are fun and the ruins on the next hill offer great views - we walked back to the lodges from there and found plenty of public footpaths through fields. We saw loads of baby lambs running loose, the hot tub was lovely and we had great weather - bonus!

The setting at Penvale was great in a beautiful valley with plenty of wild life on the door step, it was great to have a hot tub and it was used well during our stay. The lodge site was relatively quiet while we where there but if all the places were taken I still feel we would have not noticed as it was not overcrowded with log cabins, which was a benefit. We all enjoyed our holiday especially the grandchildren who had fun in the swimming pool.

We adults have a wonderful half term break. Llangollen was a great centre to visit Chester for shops, great walking from canal tow-paths to proper mountain trails and lots of interesting places to visit. The lodges were beautiful and the valley very peaceful.

We had our best Christmas ever! The lodge and park setting was tranquil, and was made more picturesque by having snow all 3 days of the bank holiday. We were allowed to take our Christmas tree/decorations, plus we took all our personel things so we had a home from home Christmas with all the added extras of hot tub. I would definitely go back and recommend it to anyone.

A fablous location for a quiet weekend away. The accommodation was of an excellent standard, very clean, all the kitchen equipment you could ask for and plenty of towels etc. The staff are very helpful and it is lovely for walking, and the kids enjoyed the pool facility. I would definitley recommend it to all.

Penvale Lodges are in a beautiful setting. Alongside the trout pools, enjoy breathtaking views of the Welsh countryside. Sheep and their lambs can be seen frolicking in the grounds; ducks and their young families congregating on the water and water's edge. Herons flying over the trout pools - all provide alternative entertainment, in stark contrast to city dwellers on a get away from it all break. The location of the lodges is idyllic - just a couple of miles out of Llangollen, on the Horseshoe Pass road. The restaurant at the Britannia public house provides excellent value for money, and is just a short walk from the lodges.

This is a fantastic, tranquil place for a gathering of friends or family! The decor is very modern and kept very clean. It is set in a beautiful location with lots of ducks and sheep roaming around, the hot tub was great and checked daily for cleanliness. We wanted a BBQ one day but had no car to go and get charcoal and one of the staff went out of their way to get us some so, so helpful. Thank you we had an amazing weekend here can't wait to come back!

The location was stunning........ we even saw a fox running past the veranda!! The A frame house was beautiful and well maintained. The Jacuzzi was an added bonus - as was the swimming pool. Plenty to do and see in the surrounding countryside - lots of small villages and towns with welcoming pubs, shops and cafes, also the stately homes and castles - too many to visit in one holiday.

This holiday was absolutely superb, and the accommodation and facilities are excellent. We stayed in the cottage as two families with 4 children aged 2, 7, 7 and 10, and there was plenty of space for everyone, and it had everything we needed and more (even provided children's plastic cutlery and cups - something we always take as it is never ususally provided). The park staff are so helpful and always available, and the cleanliness of all the facilities was excellent. Overall an excellent holiday that I would recommend for a quiet time away as a couple or an exploring holiday for all the family - we all loved it and will definitely be going back again.

For anyone wanting a peaceful break with few distractions this is a wonderful place. The nearby pubs are very good and there is plenty to do in Llangollen. The walks around the area are superb and the hot tubs are a popular extra on site facility.

If you are looking for a place to chill out, relax and enjoy the surrounding area; Penvale Lodge is the perfect place to stay. I stayed with my husband, children, parents, sister, niece and the family pet dog who all had the most relaxing weekend ever. The walks and scenery around the area are fabulous and we spent hours walking and taking in the sights around Llangollen. The lodge itself has everything you need for the perfect stay and we were all really impressed that it had everything we needed. The Lodge was well maintained and very clean and tidy. I would recommend Penvale Lodge to anyone who needs to get away to relax and to anyone who enjoys good walks and appreciates beautiful surroundings.

I would not hesitate in recommending Penvale Lake, Langollen to anyone wishing a quiet, relaxing break away from it all. It is suitable for all ages. I could not fault the accommodation; you have everything you need. The lodges, although next to each other have plenty of space in between. The views are just wonderful and the setting for the lodges is lovely, with fishing pools and ducks & sheep, along with their young, wander about outside your lodge. And there are 2 pubs within walking distance. We had a meal at The Britannia, which was lovely and very reasonable.

BRILLIANT! There was eight of us, all ladies! Totally relaxed with a few glasses of wine and good company in the hot tub!! Lodge was perfect, roomy, modern, warm and comfortable!! If you are looking for a luxury break in beautiful scenery then this is the place for you, fishing outside your door pleanty of walks and the log cabins are beautiful. 6 Adults and 2 children shared the Birches lodge VIP Feb 2011 plenty of space great location and the hot tub was fantastic and plenty big enough for everyone, would highly recommend and would definitely return, lovely staff and very high standards on site.
