The enthusiastic owners, Nadia and Eric Braizet have created an impressive ‘four red tent’ Michelin rated wooded parkland campsite, which is an ideal location for a relaxing family holiday. The well-stocked shop, oak beamed bar and gourmet restaurant are housed in old stone farm buildings which have been tastefully restored whilst maintaining their original rustic charm. Stone paths take you through the site and past colourful flower beds to our emplacements which are scattered amongst mature oak trees. Relax by the swimming pool with two twisting waterchutes or join one of the canoe excursions from site.

Superbly positioned just a short drive from the Dordogne valley, Les Péneyrals is a friendly, family-run parc with helpful owners who are always on hand. The high quality facilities include a wonderful pool complex with three swimming pools, water-slides and a heated children’s pool. Best of all, everything is kept absolutely immaculate. Surrounded by lush green countryside the parc enjoys plenty of shade from established trees and even has its own charming little lake, which is a popular spot for fishing. The owners arrange a variety of traditional entertainment throughout the season too, including live bands and weekly discos in high season. And as well as all the other attractions of the Dordogne, both Salignac and Sarlat are just a short drive away.

All credit for the excellence of this parc is due to the wonderful Dutch owners. Their warmth and friendliness is legendary among Eurocamp families, who return time and again to Le Paradis. The superb facilities include two large swimming pools, all surrounded by attractive trees, flowering shrubs and tennis courts. However, the parc’s focal point is the lovely little courtyard with its popular bar and restaurant. In high season, an ‘animateur’ arranges a variety of sports events, ‘soirées’, weekly discos in the bar and daily canoe or kayak trips on the River Vézère, which flows right past the parc. That’s the beauty of Le Paradis, it is set amidst France’s loveliest countryside, close to the meandering rivers of the Dordogne.

Now part of Castels, Saint Avit Loisirs, is set in beautiful woodland with fabulous views of the Dordogne countryside. The facilities include a swimming pool complex, tropical-style indoor pool, crazy river and jacuzzi. The sports facilities are outstanding including recently built golf driving range and putting green, plus quad biking, tennis, football and gym amongst others. The buildings are of beautiful honey-coloured stone where you’ll find a shop, bar with a large terrace overlooking the pool and a restaurant serving local specialities. Six kilometres away is the busy town of Le Bugue.
Les Grottes de Roffy

While the pool complex at its heart is superb, there are also many walks and rambles nearby to tempt you away. Especially good for walkers, with plenty of attractions nearby. Les Grottes de Roffy has long been a firm favourite. An excellent three pool complex is the parc’s centrepiece and the facilities here are good all round, with tennis as well as a children’s play area. There is also a charming and reasonably priced restaurant which is so good it’s even enjoyed by the locals, despite the presence of many first rate alternatives nearby. Pitches here are on a series of terraces, some with views over the idyllic countryside that surrounds the parc and the rural setting also offers many delightful walks amongst the patchwork woods and fields.
